Publication Ethics

Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

Journal of Pharmacy Innovation and Practice (JAPRI) adheres to guidelines from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). All studies must be conducted ethically and in accordance with international standards, including the Declaration of Helsinki for human research and the EU Directive 2010/63/EU for animal research. JAPRI upholds integrity, independence of the editorial process, and a strict policy against research misconduct.

Allegation of Research Misconduct

1. Research misconduct includes fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, duplicate submission, inappropriate authorship, and citation manipulation.
2. Editors investigate allegations following COPE flowcharts, contacting the corresponding author for clarification and consulting independent experts if necessary.
3. If misconduct is confirmed, submitted manuscripts will be rejected and published articles may be corrected or retracted with a clear notice.

Post-Publication Discussions and Corrections

JAPRI encourages readers to submit comments, critiques, or corrections. If accepted, they will be published as a Letter to the Editor, and authors of the original article will be invited to respond.

Article Withdrawal and Retraction Policy

1. Withdrawal: Articles in press may be withdrawn if they contain errors, duplicate submissions, or ethical violations. A withdrawal notice will replace the original file.
2. Retraction: Retractions occur due to serious ethical breaches (e.g., plagiarism, falsification, false authorship). Retraction notices follow COPE guidelines and include a link to the original article, which remains accessible with a “Retracted” watermark.

Responsibilities of Editors

1. Evaluate manuscripts based on academic merit only, without discrimination.
2. Ensure double-blind peer review, protecting confidentiality of authors and reviewers.
3. Decline to handle manuscripts if conflicts of interest exist.
4. Follow COPE guidelines in cases of suspected misconduct.

Responsibilities of Reviewers

1. Provide objective, constructive, and timely reviews.
2. Identify ethical issues or possible misconduct.
3. Maintain confidentiality of reviewed manuscripts.
4. Decline reviews if conflicts of interest exist with authors or institutions.

Responsibilities of Authors

1. Ensure manuscripts are original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.
2. Properly cite all sources and avoid plagiarism, self-plagiarism, and salami publication.
3. Follow authorship criteria from ICMJE and list only those who made substantial contributions.
4. Protect patient confidentiality and obtain written informed consent when required.
5. Certify adherence to ethical standards for human and animal studies.
6. Disclose all conflicts of interest, funding sources, and intellectual property related to the manuscript.
7. Provide underlying data if requested by editors to verify research integrity.
